Horses have played a significant role in our history.

They continue to provide us great pleasure in our daily and entertainment activities.

With a rich history of over 100 years in agriculture and horse management, Dave & Jackie Canfield have recently opened an Equine Rescue facility for unwanted, neglected and abused horses.


At a recent horse sale in a livestock sale barn in North Dakota, we witnessed a semi-truck driver whipping horses into a double decker cattle trailer. Many of the horses being whipped into the bottom deck were too tall and their withers were hitting on the framework of the roof of the upper deck. They were slipping around on the metal floor, getting their heads wedged between other horse's withers and the roof, bumping thier heads on the roof and side walls of the trailer, wide-eyed, shaking, very confused and scared senseless. It was a very ugly sight and our anger set in! It was then we decided to help become a part of the solution to this insane abuse. We contacted the proper authorities, but due to the wording and loopholes in the current horse transportation laws, there was nothing that could be done to stop this madness which continues yet today.


The number of neglected and abused horses is growing at an alarming rate. Their owners either can't or won't take responsibility for their care. This situation has become horrifying, leaving thousands of horses enduring an ugly and cruel existence.


Many other horses that get shipped to slaughter are left enduring an even more cruel and agonizing nightmare.
